Job Description:

Basic Function

Under the direction and supervision of the Engineering Supervisor, design equipment in accordance with design standards and customer specification, ensuring accurate bill of materials and prints.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design equipment in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Create bill of materials.
  • Recommend and implement design changes to equipment to reduce manufacturing costs or improve product performance.
  • Create drawings in SolidWorks to support the day-to-day operations of manufacturing.
  • Create drawings in SolidWorks to assist engineers in developing prototypes or modifications to existing products or equipment.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and fit to ensure the final product will meet customer expectations and needs.
  • Attend work order meetings as required.
  • Provide information by answering questions and requests.
  • May be required to travel to job sites to obtain dimensions or assess equipment issues.
  • Must be a change agent and drive out waste throughout department through the deployment of the Lean methodology. Must have knowledge of drafting standards and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with other departments.
  • There may be supervisory responsibilities with this position to be assigned as needed.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to proficiently use CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data, blueprints, technical manuals and procedures, and governmental regulations required.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers or other company associates.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, distances, and volume required.
  • Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Office products.

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Drafting and Design or equivalent work experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards, design fundamentals and the fabrication process.
