Job Description:

  • Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, software and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Design and direct engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment and determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Design of databases and database applications.
  • Knowledge of and some experience with SQL, Delphi, Visual Studios.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as Azure and AWS.
  • Develop applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
  • Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing on controls systems conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of controls equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform controls engineering tasks.
  • Communicate via reports, e-mail, and memos to management and other employees on problems, issues, plans, and projects.
  • Must effectively work with other Astec, Inc. employees to solve problems and develop projects.
  • Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot problems and make programming changes to systems. Travel is approximately one-third of the time.
  • Complete projects and assignments in a timely and proper manner, focusing on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Ability to effectively work as a member of a team is required.
  • Problem solving ability and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision is required.
  • Knowledge of database software, design software, development software, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is required.
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form is required.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and apply them to requirements and duties of the position is required.
  • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
