Astec, Inc. headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, USA offers four premium burner lines, including the Whisper Jet®, the Phoenix® Talon, the Phoenix® Coal and Phoenix® Phantom burners.
Astec burners offer the latest in reliable burner technology combined with complete one-source responsibility. Astec is able to offer everything from a simple burner replacement to a complete installed system. The Astec burner group engineers the burners to the specifications of each customer and manufactures each in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Prior to shipment, each burner is tested on Astec's tri-fuel (oil, gas & coal) test stands to ensure fast and easy start-up at installation.
Since entering the burner business in 2003, Astec has shipped over 200 burners for hot mix asphalt facilities. This success gives Astec confidence in its ability to successfully offer their burner line for retrofit applications.
The Whisper Jet burner delivers reliability and hassle-free maintenance. The Whisper Jet burner cleanly and efficiently burns oil or gas, and it is compatible with virtually all drum designs without complicated adjustments.
The Phoenix Talon burner utilizes the latest technology to deliver low emissions combined with energy efficiency. Radial gas injectors thoroughly mix air and fuel to achieve remarkable emission reduction. The variable speed main combustion blower drive helps provide precise firing rat control and uses significantly less electrical energy.
Astec's Phoenix Phantom burner leads the pack with the lowest available combustion and noise emissions (gaseous fuels only). The Phoenix Phantom burner is the only burner available in the hot mix asphalt industry using the most advanced technology to precisely and completely mix air and gaseous fuel to achieve an advanced low NOx and CO method called lean burn premix.
Astec, Inc. introduced the first Phoenix Coal burner into production in the summer of 2006. Since that time, the efficient, low-maintenance burner has shown that it can provide substantial fuel cost savings by burning pulverized coal with oil or gas as a support fuel. Coal is currently one of the least expensive fuels available. Astec believes that under good operating procedures a coal burner offers a definite competitive advantage. The Phoenix Coal requires no refractory, performs at the same production rates as gas or oil units and is highly responsive to load changes.
Visitors to the ConExpo 2008 tradeshow can see a 1/8 scale model of an Astec relocatable asphalt plant including a Phoenix Coal burner and a 1/8 scale portable model including a Phoenix Talon burner. The model will be displayed booth C-5157, during the ConExpo tradeshow held March 11-15, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
