Astec, Inc. received Better Roads Magazine's 2004 "Top Rollout" award for its Variable Frequency Drive system. This award recognizes the risk and reward of introducing new products to highway professionals.
Astec's Phoenix® Talon burner and Baghouse use this Variable Frequency Drive technology for more accurate regulation of airflow than provided by traditional damper systems. By reducing the speed of the fan instead of blocking airflow with dampers, the Variable Frequency Drive system results in significant energy savings and greatly reduces noise and vibration during operation.
