At the new Auckland facility, Fulton Hogan planted a native New Zealand kowhai tree, an Australian gum tree, and an American Sugar Maple to acknowledge the American roots of Astec, Inc., makers of the Auckland site's environmentally responsible HMA facility.
Fulton Hogan, active in New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Basin, has a long history of responsible environmental policy, and they have won numerous environmental awards.
The company plans to keep its promise to the local community by using its new Astec HMA facility with the Double Barrel® combination aggregate dryer/HMA mixer to produce asphalt mixes with reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). The Astec Double Barrel plant produces hot mix asphalt with up to 50% RAP and no visible emissions.
The opening ceremonies of Fulton Hogan's Auckland facility included a tour of the plant and a speech by Hon. Marian Hobbs.
A complete story on Fulton Hogan’s opening ceremony can be found in The New Zealand Herald: “Trio of Trees Mark Pledge” by Mathew Dearnaley 24.02.05.
