Astec designs equipment to control the emissions that can be created in the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) production process. Baghouses and cyclones capture the dust from the drying process so it can be fed back into the mix. Blue smoke systems route the haze that can escape at mix transfer points back to the burner to be incinerated, and sound suppressors minimize the sound level emitted by running machinery. This equipment lets producers continue to compete in an age of heightened environmental awareness and increased regulations.

Liquid asphalt cement, the "glue" used to hold the rock aggregate together in hot mix asphalt, is a petroleum by-product. At certain spots in the process, a haze of hydrocarbon droplets can escape. Read more... |
